Dialing in the Perfect Shot with Our Signature Espresso Roast

Featuring the La Marzocco Linea Mini & Mazzer Mini Grinder
Whether you’re pulling a double shot on a quiet morning or crafting lattes for friends, the key to exceptional espresso lies in the details. This month, we’re spotlighting our signature Espresso Roast—a medium-bodied, four-bean blend roasted for balance, complexity, and that semi-sweet boldness we all love in a clean shot.
But as any barista knows, great coffee doesn’t just happen. You’ve got to dial it in.
Here’s how to get the best from your La Marzocco Linea Mini and Mazzer Mini grinder using our Espresso Blend.
Why We Trust La Marzocco
At Daily Rise, we’ve built our espresso program around La Marzocco machines for one big reason: they last.
- Every one of our cafés and drive-thrus runs on the Linea Classic—a reliable, workhorse machine that produces consistently great espresso, even under the pressure of a morning rush.
- At farmers markets, we roll out two Linea Minis—compact but mighty machines that can keep up with high-volume days and unpredictable conditions.
Fun fact: Some of our Linea Classics have been running strong for over 20 years. That kind of longevity and craftsmanship is rare—and it’s exactly what you want behind your coffee bar.
La Marzocco is the industry standard for a reason:
- Dual boilers for temperature stability
- Saturated group heads for consistency
- Hand-built in Florence, Italy with legendary attention to detail
La Marzocco machines bring professionalism, durability, and beautiful design to every shot.

Dialing in your espresso machine
Step 1: Prep & Warm-Up
Make sure your machine is fully heated—at least 20–30 minutes. Run a few blank shots to stabilize group temp, and keep your portafilter hot.
Step 2: Set Your Dose
Start with 18 grams of our Espresso Blend in your double basket. This blend performs beautifully in the 17–18g range.
Step 3: Dial in the Grind
Using your Mazzer Mini:
- Set to a fine grind, similar to table salt.
- Grind fresh, dose, distribute evenly.
- Tamp firmly and level—around 30 lbs of pressure.
- If your shot is extracting too quickly (e.g., in 15 seconds), try adjusting your grind finer. This should help to slow down the extraction time.
Step 4: Pull the Shot
Your target is:
- 18g in → 36g out
- In 20–24 seconds
Look for rich crema, even flow, and no channeling. The sweet spot for our roast? 22 seconds with a balanced flavor profile.
Flavor Expectations
With everything dialed in, you’ll taste:
- Chocolatey body
- Caramel sweetness
- A touch of berry brightness
- Smooth, semi-sweet finish that stands up well to milk or shines solo
