Story of the Bean
Our fair trade organic Sumatra coffee comes from the Serba Usaha Qahwah Tanoh Gayo cooperative, where nearly a third of the farmers are women. Sumatra is renowned for its earthy, savory, and slightly vegetal flavor profiles. These characteristics are partly due to the climate, fertile volcanic soil, an optimal balance of shade trees, and the variety of coffee plants cultivated. Nonetheless, the distinctive harvesting method known as wet-hulling is crucial in developing these unique coffee flavors.
